Unsafe Countries To Live

Terrorists attack has been the reason behind insecurity in most countries, especially in Africa; though it still has it root in some Arab region.
According to ClickTop10.com, Africa houses the highest number of dangerous countries to live in, with 4, while the Arab region, North America and Asia has 3, 2 and 1 country respectively in the top ten list released by the site.
The most affected countries where people are living their lives under constant fears include the developed and developing nations; Somalia top the list, with Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen making the top 5, while Sudan and South Sudan occupy the 6 position, and Haiti, Honduras, Pakistan and Niger completing the list respectively.
Haiti is the only country on this list that is not experiencing terrorist attacks, but is facing natural disaster like earthquake and cholera outbreak.
The site stated that peace is the greatest concern of the current political world, “Although we do not see many country to country wars, yet the new danger of violent non-state actors have emerged on the scene which has disturbed the peace of entire world.
These groups have their particular agendas and adopt the violent means in pursuit of achieving their desired objectives.”

The College Degrees With The Highest Starting Salaries

A new salary survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) shows that engineering majors dominate the list of college degrees that pay the highest salaries to new college graduates. Of the ten majors with the highest starting salaries, six are in some branch of engineering, including computer engineering, in the no. 1 slot at $70,400, chemical engineering, no. 2 at $66,400 and aerospace/aeronautical/astronautical engineering, no. 4 at $64,000. The no. 3 highest-paying major is computer science, at $64,400.

“This is not surprising since the supply of these graduates is low, but the demand for them is so high,” said Marilyn Mackes, NACE’s executive director, in a statement.

A Bethlehem, Pa. non-profit, NACE links college placement offices with employers. Its employer members tend to be large companies, but for its salary surveys it goes beyond its members and combs through data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau and a master set of data developed by a compensation measurement company called Job Search Intelligence. The data are reported by employers and they represent accepted salaries rather than salary offers. The survey looks at starting salaries for new college grads in more than 90 disciplines.

In previous salary surveys, NACE has not broken down engineering degrees into such specific categories. But this time it found that each type of engineering degree had its own pay level, and a high demand among employers. The list emphasizes the robust demand for graduates with technical degrees. In fact the only top-paying major that isn’t in some technical category is finance, no. 8, which pays an average starting salary of $57,300.

All of the majors listed are for bachelor’s degree graduates who finished school in 2012.

U.S. Supreme Court sinks Florida city over floating home

Fane Lozman's houseboat is seen Riviera Beach, Florida, in this undated handout photo taken from court documents. When is a floating home not a vessel? In a ruling on Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court told a Florida city its argument did not hold water, and that an abode on water was nothing but a home. In a 7-2 decision, the court ruled that a gray, two-story home which its owner said was permanently moored to a marina in Riviera Beach, Florida, was not a vessel, depriving the city of power under U.S. maritime law to seize and ultimately destroy it. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - When is a floating home not a vessel? The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday told a Florida city its argument did not hold water, and that an abode on water was nothing but a home.
In a 7-2 decision, the court ruled that a gray, two-story home that its owner said was permanently moored to a Riviera Beach, Florida, marina was not a vessel, depriving the city of power under U.S. maritime law to seize and destroy it.
Justice Stephen Breyer said nothing about former Chicago trader and Marine pilot Fane Lozman's home that would have led a "reasonable observer" to conclude it could be used to transport people or things over water, but for the fact that it floated.
"Not every floating structure is a 'vessel'," Breyer wrote for the majority. "To state the obvious, a wooden washtub, a plastic dishpan, a swimming platform on pontoons, a large fishing net, a door taken off its hinges, or Pinocchio (when inside the whale) are not 'vessels'."
Riviera Beach, near Palm Beach, had seized Lozman's home after he resisted a court order that he pay $3,040 in dockage fees, and destroyed it after being unable to sell it.
Tuesday's decision reversed a lower-court ruling upholding the fees, and clears the way for Lozman to seek compensation.
Pamela Ryan, the city attorney for Riviera Beach, said in a statement she was disappointed with the ruling but accepts it, and that the city will revise its marina policies.
Lozman, 51, cheered the decision. "I feel like I'm floating on a cloud," he said in a phone interview. "I have been fighting this city for 6-1/2 years and it is humbling to get a reversal."
He said he now lives in North Bay Village, a suburb of Miami, and owns a financial software display company.
The definition of "vessel" is particularly important, given that admiralty law imposes different obligations on owners with respect to such things as staffing and taxation.
It is also a victory for the casino industry, which in court papers argued that more than 60 riverboat casinos should not be subject to U.S. maritime laws designed to protect seamen, on top of state laws to license and regulate the gaming business.
The decision limits special rules and remedies of maritime law to matters that "genuinely involve maritime commerce and transportation," Jeffrey Fisher, a Stanford University law professor who represented Lozman, said in a phone interview. "That something floats and might be towed from Point A to Point B does not mean those rules and remedies should apply."
COURT SEEKS CONSISTENCY
Lozman bought the 60-by-12 foot home in 2002. Four years later, he towed it to a Riviera Beach marina, where he kept it docked.
Although he was able to move the home in this manner, Lozman said it should not be covered by maritime law because it lacked the usual seafaring features such as a motor and GPS device, and needed land-based sewer lines and an extension cord for power.
The legal battle started after Lozman resisted new rules governing houseboats at his marina and opposed a proposed $2.4 billion luxury redevelopment of the marina.
In his opinion for the court, Breyer said the decision was consistent with the laws of California and Washington that also treat structures like Lozman's as land-based homes.
"Consistency of interpretation of related state and federal laws is a virtue" because it makes the law easier to understand and follow, Breyer said.
Joining Breyer's opinion were Chief Justice John Roberts, and Associate Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Samuel Alito and Elena Kagan.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by Justice Anthony Kennedy, dissented, in the term's first dissenting votes from a full court opinion. Sotomayor objected to the "reasonable observer" standard adopted by the majority.
The case is Lozman v. City of Riviera Beach, Florida, U.S. Supreme Court, No. 11-626.

Texas A&M’s AD has a chat with Johnny Manziel about Heisman responsibility

(USA Today Sports Images)

Now that Johnny Manziel is the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman is worried about Manziel’s life as a Heisman winner.
So, he invited Manziel and his parents to chat about moving forward with Manziel’s newfound fame.
“I told them he's no longer a freshman, and he's no longer a sophomore, junior or senior,” Hyman told the San Antonio Express-News. “He is a 'Heisman.’
“It's (about) education, and we've got to help the family and Johnny with the transition into being a Heisman award winner. There are things you have to learn, and we have to help him with that.”
Manziel has been the target of ridicule from fans and even some college coaches for pictures he’s posted on his Twitter and Instagram accounts. He was also the subject of a TMZ piece, which showed the 20-year-old holding a bottle of champagne at a Dallas nightclub. According to the nightclub owner, Manziel’s parents were present and no one in the club saw Manziel drinking.
[Related: Johnny Manziel gets last laugh in recently posted tweet]
Last week, Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops made a comment on a radio show that Manziel could win more Heisman Trophies if he stayed out of jail and off Twitter.
While Manziel is just trying to be a normal college kid, he's undoubtedly under a microscope, which makes every little thing he does a topic for national discussion.
"It's weird for me because life is changing," Manziel said. "I'm still the same person I have been. I'm just learning something new every day and kind of trying to figure out stuff more and more as the days go on."
And it’s not like Texas A&M has a lot of experience with Heisman winners either. The last was John David Crow in 1957, but Hyman still recognizes that when Manziel does something – even the most mundane thing – it reflects on the university and the Heisman Trophy trust.
“That's a special fraternity, but you also have to understand (Manziel) is 20 years old,” Hyman said. “It's a tremendous responsibility — but it is a responsibility.”

Hajiya Nkiru Sylvanus Marries Mallam Umar Sani As 2nd Wife, Rolls In Cash!

Just yesterday, I broke the story of an Igbo monarch that oddly accepts and practice islam in Imo state, today I am happy to unearth another conversion to the northern community. As Nollywood actress, Sylvanus Nkiru (The crying mantis or ble ble) marries one of the top aids to the country's vice president, Mallam Umar Sani. It is believed that Sylvanus has had relationship with the present governor or imo state, Rochas Okorochas in the past.

Few days after she was released from kidnappers den, Nollywood actress and Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Nkiru Sylvanus got married to her long time heartthrob secretly, yemojanews.com can exclusively revealed.

The man who swept the actress feet is the media spokesman of Vice President Namadi Sambo, Mallam Umar Sani. Our sources revealed that the wedding which held two weeks ago was given a media blackout and attended by handful of family members.

we nkirugathered that the wedding was made hush-hush because of the media attention that greeted the kidnapping of the actress and because the VP’s media man has a wife already which will make Nkiru his second wife.

Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped by some gunmen in Owerri on Saturday, December 15, 2012 and demanded a ransom of 100 million naira for her release.

The actress was released about a week after, though there were unconfirmed reports that a ransom was paid.

One of the Vice President’s Spokesman’s friends confirmed the marriage and told yemojanews.com that, “it is not for public knowledge”.

We learnt Nkiru and Umar Sani had been dating for a while and it was Sani, who got the political appointment for the actress in Imo State.

“Umar Sani and Rochas Okorocha are close friends. Umar facilitated Nkiru’s appointment in Imo State. You know Nkiru is from Abia State and not Imo”, our source declared.

The source further told us that it was Umar Sani that paid ransom of several millions of naira which made the kidnappers to release the actress

By nature or personal choice, they are rich and famous and yet... ugly as hell!
